About Dr. Waihuini
Mentorship Rooted in Purpose
Dr. Feli Waihuini is a passionate educator, researcher, and mentor who believes deeply in the transformative power of education and the limitless potential of every learner. Her journey in academia has been shaped not only by a commitment to knowledge, but also by a strong calling to support and guide students through career choice, and the academic and personal challenges they encounter in their educational journeys.
As a faculty member in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Waihuini has extensive experience teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds. She has also served in the Dean of Students Office, where she gained invaluable experience addressing student welfare issues ranging from social adjustment and mental well-being to financial pressures, grief, and the compounded demands of university life.
Currently serving as Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Senior Lecturer, Dr. Waihuini has developed a holistic mentorship approach that goes beyond academics — encompassing emotional resilience, healthy social relationships, practical life skills, and a sense of belonging. She is particularly passionate about supporting post-secondary students and senior high school learners as they navigate subject selection, career path decisions, and the transition into higher education.
